Risky relationship between seabirds and fisheries

After a wintering in Kerguelen for the CEBC’s 109 and 394 (IPEV) programme, I did his master’s internship with the “Marine Predators” team on behavioural ecology through biologging (on Kerguelen’s black-browed albatrosses and Europa’s Pacific frigates). In November 2017, I was recruited as an assistant engineer (PhD) for the ERC “Earlylife” programme and Henri Weimerskirch’s “Proof of concept” “Ocean Sentinel”. During my thesis, entitled “Relationship between seabirds and fisheries : Albatross Sentinels of the Southern Ocean”, I deployed brand new types of beacons on howler and Amsterdam Albatrosses in the French Southern and Antarctic Lands and analysed the data to better understand the behaviour and risks incurred by seabirds in contact with fisheries.
